Theatre and Literature in England and Ireland

DAY 1: Fly overnight to London.

Day 2 (London):  Meet your travel director and transfer to your hotel.  Get a feel for this sensational city on a walking tour before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3 (London):   Experience London’s architectural and historical highlights on a guided visit of the United Kingdom’s capital city this morning, including Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace and more. In the afternoon, visit the literary world of Charles Dickens’ London on a walking tour.

Day 4 (London):  Dive into London’s theatrical life, starting with a backstage visit to the National Theatre followed by an acting workshop in a local theatre.  Enjoy a free afternoon to visit the British Museum, the National Gallery or the Tower of London on your own. This evening, enjoy a theatre performance.

Day 5 (Stratford):  Travel to Oxford and explore City of Dreaming Spires, including the majestic Christ Church College, on foot.  Visit Blenheim Palace, where you can walk in Winston Churchill’s footsteps, before continuing to Stratford for dinner.

Day 6 (Stratford):  Explore the life and times of England’s most famous playwright today with visits to Shakespeare's Birthplace and Anne Hathaway's Cottage. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore on your own before attending an evening theatre performance.

Day 7 (London):  Travel to the lovely city of Bath, where a literary tour will guide you through the pages of Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and Geoffrey Chaucer.  Visit the mysterious circle of Stonehenge and the home of the Magna Cart, Salisbury Cathedral, before returning to London for dinner.

Day 8 (London):  Return to Shakespeare’s world with a visit to the Globe Theatre followed by a Shakespeare themed walking tour of London.  In the afternoon, visit the spiritual home of kings and queens, Westminster Abbey. Enjoy dinner and a theatre performance in the evening.

Day 9 (London): Travel by train to Cambridge for a day to explore this university town on the River Cam. Return to London for dinner.

Day 10 (Dublin):  Fly to Dublin, the capital city of Ireland today. Explore the city on foot upon arrival, then experience local cuisine with a Guinness stew dinner.

Day 11 (Dublin):  Enjoy the insight of a local guide while exploring the city’s sites, including visits to St. Patricks Cathedral and Trinity College to see the Book of Kells. This afternoon, visit the locations associated with the 1916 Rebellion on a walking tour. Enjoy dinner in the evening.

Day 12 (Dublin):  Explore the worlds of James Joyce and Brendan Behan on a morning literary walk. Enjoy a free afternoon to visit Dublin Castle or the National Museum on your own.  Enjoy dinner in the evening.

Day 13:  Travel to the airport for your return flight to the United States.
